Part of continuing the legacy of the veteran’s club is Hero’s Welcome continuing to hold weekly Meat Draws – an event synonymous with legions across the country. In true Hero’s style though, they have brought the event into more of a modern setting where participants and spectators on a Saturday night might get the feeling that they’re witnessing a live game show complete with a fun-loving host, silly sound effects, crowd chants, and “elimination round” mini-games.
Hero’s is proud to partner with Main St. neighbors, Windsor Quality Meats who supply two main prize packs every week valued at approximately $100 and $50 as well as seasonal specials such as turkeys and roasts.
All of the money raised from raffle tickets goes directly to a charitable organization within the community. Over the past two years, Hero’s has donated to the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund, the Downie Wenjack Fund, and the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Since April, Hero’s has partnered with the Citadel Canine Society for the Saturday Meat Draws.
Citadel Canine Society is a registered charity based in Vancouver that trains and delivers PTSD medical service dogs to new Military Veterans and First Responders. They provide these wonderful dogs at no charge to the recipients. Citadel Canine Society is Canada’s only registered charitable training school specializing exclusively in PTSD service dog production.
They’re one of Canada’s largest PTSD service dog providers, and are Canada’s longest-running mission-specific PTSD service dog provider.
On Saturday, August 31st, Hero’s is pulling out all the stops and will be hosting a MEGA Meat Draw at 10PM aiming to raise a record-breaking amount for charity. In addition to amped up meat prize packs, there will also be a 50/50 draw, Canadians ticket giveaways, and tons of other exciting prizes. A Mini Meat Draw will also be held earlier in the day during the bi-weekly Saturday Sounds afternoon dance party.
The MEGA Meat Draw will not be one to miss!
